As our Olive Sous Chef you will work directly with the Head Chef to lead our cohesive team to consistently deliver our Mediterranean inspired menu to our valued customers.
The Opportunity
Olive is a Mediterranean oasis, offering a blend of cuisines from Morocco to the Middle East. Our focus is on providing full flavoured, generous and honest seasonal food. We have together built a thriving restaurant.
Olive is part of the Sprout Food Group – and so is supported by a team of professionals that take care of much of the behind-the-scenes work of operating the restaurant.
This enables our restaurant team to focus on the things that matter – preparing consistently great food, providing outstanding customer experience and creating a cohesive team that is supportive of one another and focused on growth.
The role
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a section and support the Head Chef.
- Step in as Head Chef from time to time and as part of your growth and development.
- Coach and mentor junior employees generously.
- Support catering activities.
- Stock rotation and ordering.
What you will bring
- Exceptional technical skills and ability to consistently execute to a high standard our Mediterranean inspired menu and contribute new ideas.
- Maintain open, respectful, transparent communication with the Head Chef and team – listening, resolving any issues, giving and receiving feedback.
- Quick thinking and adaptable – cool under pressure and able to make decisions on the fly using the knowledge of how we operate and what is important to Olive.
- Project confidence required to lead employees during busy service.
- A commitment to food safety and work health and safety and providing a great place to work.
- Proven experiences as a Sous Chef or CDP
- Passion for Mediterranean inspired food and knowledge of cultural elements is valuable, but not a required prerequisite.
